2019 Subaru Ascent: Three-Row SUV Is The Biggest Subaru Ever

2019 Subaru Ascent: Three-Row SUV Is The Biggest Subaru Ever

January 17, 2018

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is the company’s latest version of a three-row mid-size SUV. Its previous attempt, the unsuccessful Tribeca, was considered odd-looking and cramped inside. With the Ascent, Subaru has decided to play the three-row game exactly as its competition does.

The 2019 Ascent is the largest Subaru ever built. It will compete with the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and others of its type. The Ascent has been designed to have the size, the technology, and the capabilities that buyers of this type of SUV demand. Even better, Subaru now has a larger vehicle for its loyal Crosstrek, Outback, and Forester owners to move up to!

How Much Larger Is The 2019 Subaru Ascent?

Compared to the current Subaru Outback SUV, the Ascent is seven inches longer, four inches wider, and more than five inches taller. Standard seating is for eight, but second-row captain’s chairs are a no-cost option on most trim levels. The Ascent’s third row will fit two adults, but without much room to spare.

2019 Subaru Ascent Trim Levels

The 2019 Subaru Ascent will be available in four trim levels: Ascent, Ascent Premium, Ascent Limited, and Ascent Touring.

A New Turbocharged Engine For The Ascent

All 2019 Subaru Ascent trim levels will come with a single engine choice, a new 2.4L direct injected, turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine with an output of 260 horsepower. A CVT automatic transmission has paddle shifters that can activate eight pre-set ratios. All-wheel drive is standard across the board. Towing capacity, when properly equipped, is 5,000 pounds. Fuel capacity is 19.3 gallons.

Standard High-Tech Driver Assistance Systems

Subaru’s EyeSight system is offered as a standard feature, for the first time ever on any Subaru model. EyeSight monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you when you’re swaying outside your lane. The pre-collision braking feature can even apply full braking force, bringing you to a complete stop in emergency situations. Every 2019 Ascent has it.

Additional available safety systems include:

  • Starlink safety and security with automatic collision notification
  • Blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert
  • LED steering responsive headlights
  • Reverse automatic braking
  • Front view monitor shows a 180-degree view of the front of the vehicle
  • Smart rear view mirror uses a camera to see when your rear view is blocked

More Great Features On The 2019 Subaru Ascent

Another important standard feature on all Ascent trim levels is a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Added features as you move up through the trim levels include 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, heated seats for the first two rows, power liftgate, proximity key with push-button start, leather upholstery, retractable second-row sunshades, ventilated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, navigation, and a panoramic sunroof.

Should You Lease A 2019 Subaru Ascent?

This should be a great vehicle to lease! The 2019 Ascent looks like it will hit the sweet spot for three-row mid-size SUVs. Rugged styling, lots of interior space, the latest safety equipment, plus all the expected traditional Subaru qualities, make the 2019 Subaru Ascent an SUV worth considering if you are in the market for this type of vehicle.

The 2019 Subaru Ascent will be available during the summer of 2018. Starting sticker price is estimated to be around $35,000, with a fully-loaded Ascent Touring pricing out near the $50,000 mark.
